  • Beware of Fake Email Receitps!

I always wondered why those who have the ability to hack others computers and create a viruses which do some of the most wicked things don’t use their skills for good. As a person who owns multiple businesses and has even more emails, you can imagine the volume of emails I get. For quite some time, I have been getting emails thanking me for my purchase with a “receipt” attached. An important point here is that most legitimate purchase receipts will be included in the body of the email with a link to your account for you to view more details and/or print it. In fact, I can’t ever recall a legitimate purchase receipt emailed to me that was sent as an attachment. I’m writing this because the Lord impressed strongly in my spirit to share this with you today.

So what are some indicators it’s not a legitimate receipt?
1. As aforementioned, it will be sent as an attachment.
2. The return email will not be an official email from that company’s domain.
3. The name attached to the return email will sometimes be a personal name.
4. The graphics in the body of the email will be janky a lot of times. Yes I said janky LOL.
5. Many of them, in my experience, are for anti-virus purchase receipts.

Some other common scam emails are violation of META’s terms and conditions. Do NOT fall for those because Facebook doesn’t send those kinds of emails. It’s critical if you have any doubts, don’t click on or download anything. Contact the company first to make sure whatever you think might be legit is. Also, make sure you have a good anti-virus installed. I recommend Avast because it’s one of the best as far as detection algorithms and it’s light weight. And you can use the free version as you don’t need the paid version. McAfee is horrible. Norton 360 is cumbersome and slows your computer down.
